Former Harambee Stars midfielder plotting comeback after brief NSL stint

The experienced midfielder says he has gained lessons during his lowest moments and is eager to redeem himself

The 2022-2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League’s best scoring midfielder, Joseph Mwangi, is eyeing return to the top tier ahead of the new campaign.

Mwangi spent the second leg of the concluded 2025-2026 term with National Super League (NSL)side, Nairobi City Stars.

He joined Simba wa Nairobi after a brief stint with the 2018 Mozzart Bet Cup winners, Kariobangi Sharks, whom he joined last year.

The transfer to City Stars saw him reunite with coach Salim Babu whom he had previously worked under at Nzoia Sugar FC.

With his contract with City Stars set to expire this month, the attacking midfielder is eager to prove himself again in the top flight.
